The “WebX Fintech EXPO,” co-hosted with the SBI Group, attracted approximately 1,100 attendees despite being invitation-only, with around 450 participants coming from overseas. Financial institutions, startups, and Web3-related companies from Japan and abroad gathered in one place for intensive discussions and networking. With the cooperation of 957 participating companies and 18 sponsors, industry leaders and innovators gathered to engage in cutting-edge discussions on the financial system of the future.

Speakers included leading figures from Japan and abroad, such as Yoshitaka Kitao of SBI Holdings, Masaaki Taira of the Digital Agency, Tomoya Asakura of SBI Global Asset Management, Hirofumi Yoshimura, Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Takashi Takamura of Franklin Templeton Japan, and Benjamin Schiller of CoinDesk. Each speaker shared practical insights on topics such as the progress of financial digitization, RWA (tokenization of real-world assets), and the importance of international regulatory coordination, prompting lively questions and exchanges of opinions from participants.

The event also received significant media coverage, with reports appearing in major Japanese newspapers such as Nikkei, Jiji Press, Mainichi Shimbun, and Kyoto Shimbun, as well as on TV stations such as TV Osaka and Mainichi Broadcasting System. Furthermore, coverage was secured in over 15 media outlets, including international publications such as BeInCrypto Japan, DisruptionBanking (UK), and CBN News (Cyprus). This clearly established WebX Fintech EXPO as a hub in the finance and Web3 sectors, attracting significant attention both domestically and internationally.

This event also served as a catalyst to generate significant momentum leading up to “WebX 2025,” scheduled for the following week. As a fully invitation-only conference specializing in FinTech, its realization—embodying the fusion of Web3 and finance with the strong support of the SBI Group—was a major achievement. It also reaffirmed the strong potential for Japan to become a global hub for Web3.

However, operational aspects revealed areas for improvement, including streamlining registration and entry management, better timing between speaker sessions, and the simultaneous interpretation system. For future editions, we will aim for smoother operations and maximize participant satisfaction by exploring designs that further encourage networking among attendees. Moving forward, we intend to evolve this event as a foundation for engaging key players globally and promoting Japan's Web3 and FinTech ecosystem to the world.
