efforts to increase regional attractiveness through open
factories, and the creation of new local economies that
increase earning power and generate added value.
Reports
【Reflection】
In this program, we introduced examples of the government’s
“Regional Revitalization 2.0” initiative, such as efforts to
boost local appeal through open factories (public factory
tours). These initiatives aim to strengthen earning power and
create a new, value-added local economy.
Through this program, we were able to show—using leading case
studies—that regional revitalization can be achieved when the
public and private sectors work together, make use of local
strengths and resources to attract people, and when
communities themselves recognize their own appeal and actively
promote it. We believe this helped visitors gain a deeper
understanding of how regional revitalization can take
shape.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Even after this program, the government continues to work
toward the vision outlined in the Basic Policy for Regional
Revitalization 2.0, which was approved by the Cabinet on June
13, 2025. Based on this policy, our goal is to create a
sustainable society where everyone—whether in urban or rural
areas—can live happily, safely, and securely. At the same
time, we aim to build “fun and attractive regions” that are
appealing to young people and women.
To promote this vision, we are holding forums in five
locations across Japan to showcase leading local initiatives
and inspire broader public engagement. Alongside these forums,
we are also providing financial support to local governments
through grant programs, while actively raising awareness
through lectures and other outreach activities at various
events.
