EXPO2025 Theme Weeks

Programme details

“Hydrogen is Opportunity!!”

Hydrogen is the next-generation energy source that holds the key to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Through this program, we present Hydrogen Energy Park!!—a space where you can experience its importance and boundless potential firsthand.

Here, you can learn about hydrogen, feel hydrogen, relax with hydrogen, and play with hydrogen—an interactive space where everyone can explore the future of hydrogen while having fun.

Discover hydrogen’s potential across industries, mobility, and daily life, and experience how hydrogen can bring limitless opportunities to both Japan and the planet.

At the venue, enjoy a theater zone showcasing a future society powered by hydrogen, exhibits on cutting-edge applications in homes, mobility, aerospace, and other industries, as well as interactive quiz content created by QuizKnock.
In addition, special talk events featuring celebrity guests will be held daily. Through engaging exhibits and hands-on experiences, visitors of all ages can discover the excitement and possibilities of hydrogen.
As a special collaboration project, we will hold a stamp mission where participants visit three popular pavilions—Panasonic Group Pavilion
“The Land of NOMO”, NTT Pavilion, and Electric Power Pavilion -Eggs of Possibilities—along with the Hydrogen Park. We invite you to take on the challenge while experiencing the spread of hydrogen throughout the entire Expo site.

Join us for four days to experience how hydrogen is shaping the future of our environment, society, and economy—a true opportunity for all.

We look forward to welcoming you at EXPO Messe (WASSE)!

Reports

【Reflection】
At the Hydrogen Energy Park, visitors experienced firsthand the future society made possible by hydrogen through a wide range of exhibits and programs. The venue featured a theater zone offering an immersive glimpse into a hydrogen-powered future, as well as exhibition areas showcasing the forefront of hydrogen applications across various fields such as housing, mobility, and aerospace. A variety of engaging content, including quiz programs produced by QuizKnock, was also presented.

In the mobility zone, visitors could test-ride hydrogen-powered vehicles, while in lifestyle-themed exhibits, they were able to feel the actual weight of hydrogen cartridges—all creatively designed by participating companies. Many visitors shared enthusiastic feedback, such as: “I was surprised to learn how close hydrogen is to our everyday lives,” and “It was exciting to imagine what our future society might look like!”

In addition, daily talk events were held featuring special guest speakers, whose unique perspectives and lively discussions brought further excitement to the venue.

With its diverse and educational content enjoyable for both children and adults, Hydrogen Energy Park offered a valuable opportunity for visitors to explore the potential of hydrogen and deepen their interest in the society of the future. The event concluded with great success.

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Through our participation in the Expo, we gained a clear sense that many visitors were able to engage with the potential of hydrogen and develop greater interest in future societal applications.
Survey responses also showed strong recognition not only for our videos, exhibits, and stage programs, but also for the core concept of this year’s presentation: “Hydrogen is Opportunity!!”

In moving forward with hydrogen-related initiatives, we aim to make these “opportunities” more tangible and ensure that hydrogen becomes a more familiar part of people’s lives. To help the public envision how hydrogen will take shape together with supporting infrastructure, we will continue our efforts across three key areas: producing, transporting and storing, and using hydrogen.

In the area of production, we will promote the introduction of low-carbon hydrogen. This includes expanding the use of “green hydrogen” generated through water electrolysis powered by renewable energy such as solar and wind, as well as adopting “blue hydrogen,” which incorporates CO₂ capture and storage (CCS) technologies when hydrogen is produced from fossil fuels.

For transportation and storage, we will work to build an international hydrogen supply chain—bringing hydrogen produced overseas from renewable energy to Japan using liquefied hydrogen carriers—and advance technologies for stable storage and delivery to required locations.

For use, we will promote CO₂ reduction through the expansion of fuel cell vehicles (FCVs), buses, and trucks; the development of hydrogen stations and other mobility applications; hydrogen-fired power generation (co-firing and 100% hydrogen); and the substitution of hydrogen for fossil fuels in industrial processes.

We will continue to advance these initiatives so that their impact—ranging from greater energy stability and progress toward carbon neutrality to the creation of new industries—can be clearly understood as opportunities that contribute to society and everyday life.
