Reports
【Reflection】
The Come Power the Future event at Expo served as a dynamic
platform to showcase the UK’s leadership in clean energy and
its collaborative efforts with Japan. Designed to engage a
wide public audience, the event successfully delivered on its
core objectives: promoting clean energy innovation, inspiring
future generations, and reinforcing international
partnerships.
One of the most notable outcomes was the high level of public
engagement, particularly with interactive exhibits. The
Kinewell and Tokamak activations stood out for their ability
to attract and involve attendees of all ages. The Kinewell
game alone saw over 3,400 participants, with strong interest
from students and even post-event enquiries about accessing
the game. This demonstrated the effectiveness of gamified
learning and hands-on interaction in making complex energy
topics accessible and enjoyable.
The event also succeeded in communicating key messages about
clean energy. It highlighted the UK’s progress in
decarbonisation and energy security, while emphasising the
importance of clean energy in tackling climate change and
building a sustainable future. The narrative underscored the
UK’s position as a global leader in clean energy and its close
partnership with Japan, particularly in areas of high
potential such as offshore wind and fusion.
Importantly, the event aligned well with broader Expo themes,
including biodiversity and sustainability, and supported wider
campaigns such as “Come Build the Future.” This thematic
coherence helped reinforce the relevance of clean energy to
both industry and public audiences, and positioned the UK as a
forward-thinking, innovative nation committed to global
progress.
The success of the Kinewell and Tokamak experiences suggests
that future clean energy showcases should continue to
prioritise participatory elements that invite curiosity and
exploration. These formats not only enhance understanding but
also inspire enthusiasm and interest in clean energy careers
and innovation.
By embracing interactivity, maintaining strong narrative
alignment, and fostering international collaboration, the UK
can continue to lead and inspire in the global clean energy
transition.
